North Country Concrete Inc. was founded in 1996 by Karl and Beth Virkus. Karl had been working in the concrete industry since the early 1980s when he decided to venture out on his own. Beginning modestly, Karl and his new team worked out of the basement of his home with only one estimator and field crew. Now North Country Concrete employs over 80 union employees and maintains ten field crews. To manage these crews two field superintendents schedule and oversee the projects. North Country Concrete also employs several estimator/project managers with over 60 years of expertise in the construction industry. With this knowledge they are able to bid all types of site concrete projects no matter the size or complexity.
Over the years, we have developed our own proprietary systems that have greatly increased our efficiency. More than that, our systems allow the best concrete workers in Minnesota to grow in their careers in a family-oriented, family-run business.
Our company specializes in concrete placement of curb and gutter, sidewalk, stairs, pavement, walls, driveways and colored stamped concrete. We proudly serve the Minneapolis / St Paul metropolitan area, as well as its outlying communities and western Wisconsin, Iowa, and North Dakota.
