The Ham Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, East Bethel Chamber of Commerce, and the League of Women Voters Anoka, Blaine, Coon Rapids Area (LWV ABC) invite you to participate in a public candidate forum for candidates running in the General Election as listed in the schedule below on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 6:30 to 9:30pm. It will be held in the Fireside Room at Majestic Oaks Golf Club (701 Bunker Blvd. Ham Lake, MN).
It is our purpose to provide the voters with an opportunity to hear the candidates discuss issues of importance to them in this election. We hope that you take this opportunity for voters to get to know you and to hear your stands on issues. To respect the time and interests of voters and candidates who attend, even if only one of the candidates in a contested race is in attendance, that candidate will still be allowed to present their views to voters. In an uncontested race, the candidate will be given 5 minutes to present his opening statement, vision for the community and closing statement. We will conduct the forum in a manner that is neutral to all candidates.
Evening Schedule (times are approximate):
· 6:30pm: East Bethel Mayoral Candidate
· 6:35pm: East Bethel City Council Candidates
· 7:20pm: Ham Lake Mayoral Candidates
· 7:40pm: Ham Lake City Council Candidates
· 8:15pm: House District 31B Candidates.
· 8:45-9:30pm: Informal Candidate Meet and Greet (Refreshments will be provided.)
Each candidate will be given one-minute for an opening statement that can be prepared in advance. The moderator will then ask audience questions covering as many areas of interest as possible with responses of up to one minute.
Each section of the forum will end with one-minute closing statements that you can prepare in advance.
Local cable television and newspapers have been invited to attend the event.
